'Xena' pioneers Web syndie

Studios USA Domestic Television and Brilliant Digital Entertainment Inc. have
inked a deal said to broaden the scope of television syndication. The agreement
makes Studios USA, the company that syndicates "Xena: Warrior Princess," the
first major syndicator to distribute content to local TV station Web sites
throughout the country. The deal, announced Wednesday by Brilliant Digital
president Kevin Bermeister and SUDT executive vp sales and new business Arthur
Hasson, includes "Xena" webisodes and other content from Brilliant Digital's
library. The programming is interactive, with viewers able to make choices about
how the webisodes end. The first "Xena" multipath movie webisode premiered July
14 on SciFi.com, USANetwork.com and StudiosUSA.com. The companies will share
advertising revenue generated by the webisodes placed by USA Entertainment sites
and other third-party broadcast sites to which Studios USA syndicates.
